Augustus, 27 BC-AD 14. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.85 g, 6 h), Lugdunum, 8-7 BC. AVGVSTVS DIVI•F Laureate head of Augustus to right. Rev. C•CAES / AVGVS•F Gaius Caesar on horseback galloping right, holding sword and shield in his left hand and reins in his right; behind, legionary eagle between two standards. BMC 500. CBN 1463. Cohen 40. Giard 69. RIC 199. Fresh and attractive, and with a lovely reverse. The obverse struck from a slightly worn die, otherwise, about extremely fine.
